Samantha,

Per your request, I have set up your mailing list with the configuration you requested below. The only thing I was unable to do is set the address the way you wanted it.

Because the mailing list resides on the cls mail server (cls.coe.utk.edu), I have to set the mailing address to be tutor@cls.coe.utk.edu rather than tutor@floridaliteracy.org as you preferred.

Please set your web browser to http://cls.coe.utk.edu/mailman/admin/tutor to modify any of the settings or otherwise administer the list.  The password to the administrative interface is ìfloridaliteracy

Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

Bill

Subject: Discussion List Information

OkóHere is the information you needed (I knowóit took me long enough) Let me know if you need anything else and if you could give me a heads up when itís ready to go on your end, that would be great. Thanks bunches!!!!!!

1) The "public name" of your mailing list. This is the part of the

mailing address to the left of the "@" sign.    I recommend it be as

short as you can stand it, because it's what everyone has to type in when they want to send e-mail the list. tutor@floridaliteracy.org

2) The name and e-mail address of the person who will be managing the list the list. Samantha Sparks sparkss@floridaliteracy.org

3) A terse phrase identifying the list.  This is a brief description of no more than 150 characters. For the discussion of tutoring strategies,  issues and ideas

4) An introductory description - a few paragraphs - about the list. It will be included, as html, at the top of the listinfo page.

The Florida Literacy Coalition is pleased to provide a discussion list for Floridaís adult literacy tutors. Recognizing the outstanding efforts being made everyday by thousands of literacy volunteers throughout Florida, this service provides a venue to share information and discuss issues specific to tutoring.

So please join in this on-line community and share your questions,  experiences and tutoring tips with your fellow volunteers.

5) Prefix for subject line of list postings.  This will identify the messages that come from the list. Tutor-fl

6) Any text you want in the new-subscriber message.

Thank you for joining in the tutor-fl discussion list.  As a new service of the Florida Literacy Coalition, we hope that this list provides you with a useful forum to share and learn from your fellow literacy volunteers.

Please know that the list is a moderated one, so you will not have any solicitors on the list.

Feel free to discuss any issues that interest you pertaining to tutoring.   Tutor tips and other ideas with regard instructional materials and lesson planning are especially welcome.

If you have any questions about the list, please feel free to contact Samantha Sparks at sparkss@floridaliteracy.org

7) Any text you want in the message automatically sent to people who unsubscribe from the list. You have been successfully unsubscribed from the tutor-fl discussion list.

8) Do you want replies sent to the list or the poster? To the list so it will stimulate discussion. However the list will be moderated like the others with all submissions being sent to me for approval.

And finally - A list of the names and e-mail addresses of people whom you want on the list. At first, it will just be us: sparkss@floridaliteracy.org and smithg@floridaliteracy.org. After that, we will have a quick sign up box on our web site for new subscribers.
