Susan has had a 30-year career as accounting professional serving in local government, first at the Orange County Comptroller's Office, and then at a county-wide special district in northern Vermont. She earned a Master of Professional Accountancy degree from Georgia State University, has held a Florida CPA license since 1987, and has maintained professional memberships in the American Institute of CPAs and the Government Finance Officers Association. Susan lives in Winter Springs, is active in church and other volunteer activities, and enjoys spending time with her two children and two grandchildren.

Heather Surrency is a public health professional with more than 15 years of experience in public health promotion and education. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Florida and a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining the Coalition, Heather spent 12 years at Georgia Tech as the director of the Department of Health Promotion and as an instructor of an undergraduate preventative healthcare course.

Nicole has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Central Florida and started at FLC as an Americorps VISTA member. She has experience working with community based organizations doing volunteer recruitment, grant management, fundraising and tutor management. She has worked on several events with FLC and other member organizations. When she is not working, Nicole is either biking or visiting farmers markets around town.

Adriana Rincón joined the Coalition in 2018 as the Resource Specialist. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Central Florida, and has previously worked in the government and nonprofit sectors.

Wesley Pratt • Event Management Intern prattw@floridaliteracy.org

As a senior at The University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management, Wesley Pratt is the Event Management Intern at the Florida Literacy Coalition. Wesley served as Event Management of Never Stand Alone and was Senator of Marketing & Advertising for Valencia College’s Student Government Association. These experiences have equipped him with the skills to assist in the planning of the 32nd Annual Florida Literacy Conference among his other duties. Wesley will be graduating with a B.S. in Event Management from UCF in the summer of 2016.
