I successfully completed my primary school education in 1998, having gained the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E.).I managed to secure the top position in our educational zone. I was very optimistic that I could pursue my engineering career prospect after I emerged with the best grades in English and Mathematics. I was later issued with an acceptance letter to join one of the provisional high school. I could only depend on my family’s farming activities hoping that they could cater for my secondary education.Unfortunately; our maze crop became inadequate due low state of rainfall in our area. Our farm produce could only sustain to feed our family. My parents lacked other means to pay for my school fees and as a result of poverty I lost my chance to further my education. Poverty hits those with low education attainment but my family was the hardest hit.
I later joined a vocational school namely Christian Industrial Training Center (C.I.T.C.) where I learned Electric Arc Welding course. I hold a government’s trade grade II in Shielded Metal Arc Welding.
Regarding that a good profession needs a good academic background, I am eager to go through at least a high school completion program so as to be exposed to the contents that were of no use to my career. I as an adult want to learn. I do not want to post phone it any longer. For if I do not gain those flexible skills there will always be that feeling of inadequacy that will keep tagging at the back of my mind. I am perpetually extorted to learn and inquire further and further in the quest understand more and more therefore expand the horizons of the mind.
However I intend to get a permanent employment soon or later. But with the fierce competition in most the employment sectors it is not enough for me to be well versed with particular subject. It is vital that I be armed with a strong command and understanding in order to compete with the modern technology.
Now with the speed of technology, the need to be literate in everything that I do is making me fell left out. Jobs and opportunities for me to make a better life are going away. Jobs are even changing, becoming more complex and requiring higher order of skills and problem solving. Economists project that 63 percent of jobs in 2015 will require some education or training beyond high school. Yet I my self do not meet that threshold.
My specific objective in seeking education is to build partnership, promote mutual understanding and develop networks for relation ships that will last through generations’ .I need higher education in order for me to move into leadership roles in this broad range of occupational fields in my society. I need this continuous education the very essence of a vibrant and modern society. My passion is wedded to innovation and creativity to produce that versatile self disciplined worker who wants to change the world.
Nevertheless that I come from a poor family, I am ambitious to find a sponsoring institution whereby I can demonstrate my interest to my fellow human beings the ability to lead and energy to use my talents to the full. I am going to allocate more sense of personal achievement out of the people who can say they benefited from my mentor-ship. Possibly through my personal strategic plan, shall be able to define the parameters of my personal achievement.
