If you are working on verb tense, I suggest using this ESL Memorial Day Quiz.

McGraw Hill developed a drag and drop CLOZE exercise for a paragraph on the history of Memorial Day. This is a good exercise if you’re looking to build vocabulary.

NBC News compiled a collection of cartoons from newspaper cartoonists who honor our nation’s heroes. If your student is artistic, you can look through the pictures and see what he or she would like to draw. Or you can have them write captions for cartoons without any text.

If all else fails, you can show a video or go through this infographic with your learner to learn more about the day.
